What Are the Three Ashras of Ramadan?

Ashara e Rehmat (1st Ashara)

This Ashra is the beginning of Ramazan ul Mubarak and is regarded as the plea to  Allah to shower His mercy and blessings upon the muslims who fast with sincerity and devotion. The dedicated dua for the first Ashara is :

رَّبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِين

[ RAB-BIGH-FIR WAR-HAM WA ANTA KHAIR – UR- RAAHIMEEN ]

[O! My Lord forgives and has Mercy, and You are the Best of Merciful]

[ I ask forgiveness of my sins from Allah, my Lord, and I turn to Him.]

Reciting Dua of Ashara e Daghfirat regularly during the 2nd Ashra is to ask Allah to forgive our sins. This Dua is a commitment to quit sins and to do things of virtue in Ramadan. Frequent recitation of this Dua helps to connect with the divine and obey the Almighty Allah.

Prayers and Practices in Ashara e Maghfirat

اَللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْنِي مِنَ النَّارِ

[Allahumma Ajirni Minan Naar ]

Dua for the 3rd Ashara of  Ramadan ul Mubarak brings protection and shelter against the devil and hellfire. Spiritual practices in Ashra e Nijat

  • Finding Lailatul Qadr: The most significant thing in the last Ashra of Ramzan is to grow spiritually high with increased worship and prayers and to find Lailatul Qadr(The Night Of Power ).
  • Itikaf: Itikaaf is an Arabic word which means Adhering or commitment. It is the practice of seclusion in a mosque for the last ten days of Ramadan ul  Mubarak. Itikaf is aimed at strongly connecting oneself with Allah through enhanced worship and Quranic recitation.

Note: It is strictly prohibited to engage in worldly talks and other matters during Itikaf because it needs great focus and seriousness with devotion to prayers and worship.
